The Bakor Fig Tree is one of those varieties that has a striking appearance and incredible flavor. This is a fig that looks exotic, tastes amazing, and grows with vigor. If you love figs with bold colors and rich, jammy interiors, Bakor is going to become one of your favorites. The tree itself is strong, upright, and productive, with a growth habit that fills out beautifully. It starts out slow - it didn't give me figs until its 3rd year - but once it does - it is a workhorse! This is a rare American heirloom fig variety that is highly regarded among fig collectors for its rich berry-like flavor and good performance in warm, humid climates. It is a common fig.

  • Sultane

I have not yet fruited the Sultane. I've heard amazing things about it and can't wait to try it! It was a difficult rooter for me, but this cutting finally took and I hope it is just as successful for you. I researched this fig and here is what I found: Sultane is a classic French fig variety, also commonly sold under the name"Noire de Bellone" or"Bellone Bifère." It is prized for its excellent flavor, heavy productivity, and ability to produce a Breba & main crop.

  • Cosme Manyo

Cosme Manyo is a highly regarded Mallorcan heirloom fig that combines vigorous growth, attractive green-yellow fruit with a deep red interior, and a reputation for dependable production. In character, it is often described as a collector-quality variety with dense, syrupy flesh and excellent overall eating qualities. The flavor is intensely sweet and rich, falling into the Adriatic-type group, with pronounced berry notes, hints of cherry and honey, and a concentrated, jam-like texture that becomes especially impressive when fully ripe. • LSU Strawberry

LSU Strawberry is a vigorous Louisiana fig prized for thriving in hot, humid climates and producing small to medium fruit with bright green skin and striking strawberry-red pulp. The character of the variety is straightforward and productive rather than complex or exotic, with a tight eye and excellent resistance to splitting and rain. The taste is intensely sweet and distinctly true-to-name, featuring prominent strawberry jam and mixed berry notes with very low acidity, making it one of the most dessert-like figs in the LSU family and a favorite among growers seeking a rich, strawberry-forward flavor profile. (Meaty, slight seed crunch, raspberry then to strawberry, very sweet, sap from the eye even under-ripe! Gave me figs in its 2nd season after rooting.)

  • Green Ischia

Green Ischia (Ischia Green/Verte) is a classic Adriatic-type fig valued for its compact growth, reliability, and exceptional flavor packed into relatively small fruit. The figs remain green when ripe, hiding a vivid strawberry-red interior with a soft, jammy texture and crunchy seeds. In taste, Green Ischia is intensely sweet yet balanced, offering rich strawberry jam, raspberry, and mixed berry flavors layered with subtle honey and earthy undertones. Many enthusiasts regard it as one of the finest green-skinned figs, combining concentrated berry character with a refreshing, clean finish rather than the heavier syrupy profile found in some dark figs. (This tree has yet to give me an edible fruit - I've had it for 5 years. Source was Harvey.)

  • Tena

Tena is a University of California selection originally developed to provide a high-quality drying fig without requiring pollination, and it remains valued for its productivity, tight eye, and dependable performance. The fruit is medium-sized with greenish-yellow skin and pale amber to light pink flesh, giving it a very different profile from berry-heavy figs like Green Ischia or CLBC. Its flavor is primarily honey-sweet and mellow, featuring notes of dried fig, floral nectar, and light caramel, with only subtle berry character and very low acidity. The texture is dense and jammy, and while it is considered a pleasant fresh fig, many growers regard its greatest strength as a drying fig, where its concentrated sweetness can rival Calimyrna. I found it to taste like white grapes & honey! It is a finicky producer; a cold-snap left me with no figs this year to taste. A Breba producer, though!

  • Nixon's Peace

Nixon's Peace (also known as Fujian Bai Mi) is a Chinese fig with an interesting collector story, reputedly connected to President Richard Nixon's 1972 visit to China, though that origin story is largely based on grower tradition rather than formal documentation. The variety is known for producing large yellow-skinned figs with amber to reddish pulp and exceptional productivity in hot climates. Flavor-wise, Nixon's Peace is considered a premium honey fig, delivering intense honey sweetness, marshmallow-like richness, and a smooth, syrupy texture, with only light acidity and minimal berry character. At peak ripeness it can develop subtle floral notes, making it a favorite among growers who prefer rich honey figs over berry-forward varieties. I have not yet fruited this variety - it is a 4-year old tree for me in a pot. I am transferring it into the ground this winter.

The tree is vigorous, productive, and often yields two crops a year, producing large dark brown figs with yellow-amber flesh. In flavor, it is best described as rich, sweet, and approachable rather than highly complex, offering syrupy sweetness, honey, light caramel, and dried-fruit notes with a smooth, creamy texture. While it lacks the intense berry punch of varieties like Green Ischia or CLBC, its dependable productivity, large fruit size, and pleasing dessert-like flavor make it a favorite among growers in cooler regions.

  • Jolly Rancher (thin cuttings - pencil)

olly Rancher (TFH-270) is a Northern California seedling selection discovered by David Burke ("The Fig Hunter") and has quickly become famous among collectors. Contrary to the name, for fig growers without the fig wasp - it does not taste like the candy it is named after. It tastes more like a sweet, delicious, honey watermelon. It's a small fig measuring in the teen-gram-wise. It is a very thirsty tree; dropping the figlets if you don't water enough. But monitor or finger test to be sure you don't over-water. (This is its 3rd year for me and has been producing figs since last year. The watering was the secret for me.)

The tree produces medium to large dark purple-brown figs with a deep red interior and is known for ripening relatively early. In flavor, Letizia is rich, syrupy, and berry-forward, combining dark berry notes with concentrated sweetness and a touch of balancing acidity. When allowed to fully ripen on the tree, the pulp becomes dense, jammy, and intensely flavorful, with many growers describing it as memorable and distinctive rather than merely sweet. Its combination of hardiness, productivity, and strong berry character has made it a favorite among growers in cooler regions. This is a Breba producer as well!

Pasquale is generally considered synonymous with Vernino, a traditional Italian heirloom fig from the Naples/Tuscany region that is prized more for its rich flavor and late-season ripening than for extreme productivity. The fruit is small to medium, with dark purple to nearly black skin and a strawberry-red interior. In character, Pasquale is a classic old-world fig with a long hang time and the ability to develop deep flavor as the season progresses. The taste is rich and berry-forward, featuring concentrated strawberry and dark berry notes, a dense jammy texture, and balanced sweetness that becomes more intense when fully tree-ripened. Some growers also describe heirloom Pasquale selections as having a smooth preserve-like quality that makes them excellent for fresh eating, drying, or preserves. I have not yet fruited this tree.
